Soup to Chase the Chill Away

Here's a recipe that'll warm you on these cold winter nights. It is a family favorite, although I have to tame it a little for the girls because they don't care for their soup as spicy as Matthew and I do. : )

Taco Bean Soup

1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. ground sausage
1 envelope taco seasoning
4 c. water
2 cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans pinto beans, rinsed and drained
2 cans stewed tomatoes
2 cans Mexican diced tomatoes
1 jar salsa

1 bag of corn chips (optional)

Cook sausage and beef. Add taco seasoning and mix well. Put meat in a slow cooker, adding remaining ingredients. Cook on low for 6 hours, or on high for 2 hours. I serve this soup with corn chips instead of crackers.

  1. Sounds super yummy! We might have to give that a whirl - taming it down for our kiddos, too!

  2. It is such a great snowy day supper! And super easy to throw together. I usually use mild salsa for the girls and only 1 can of the rotel tomatoes. Hope you like it. : )
