Wis Dells Vacation -- Part 2 -- At the Beach

The Wisconsin Dells are known for their waterparks. In fact, it is the waterpark capitol of the world. So, we had high expectations and we weren't disappointed.

Mt. Olympus has an indoor waterpark with a heated lazy river and three large waterslides. There is a hot tub, a swimming pool and a kiddie pool with slides. Something for everyone! I was amazed at how much could be packed into one room. But, with some good planning, and lots of vertical space, there really is something for all ages in the indoor waterpark. We didn't spend a lot of time inside since it was beautiful outside.

We spent most of our swim time at Poseidon's Rage wave pool and beach. Poseidon's Rage Surf Pool unleashes waves up to 9 ft tall every 90 seconds with 1.5 million gallons of water. You would not believe how many people hang out in this pool for HOURS waiting for the next big wave. I have never seen so many sunburns in my life as I did on victims of this wave pool. It was entertaining to watch all these bodies get tossed around in the huge waves. You really can't tell from the photos how huge the waves were. But, trust me, they were huge!

And for those younger ones, shorter ones, weaker swimmers, or those who just don't want to be tossed around in the tall waves, playing at the edge of the zero-entry pool was as much fun. Even Eli had a blast when the "tide" came in!

Look out, Eli! Here comes the wave!!!!

Sometimes we played in the water. Sometimes we played in the sand. And we usually went back and forth between the beach and waves. It was so easy to completely miss supper because we were playing and watching the sun begin to retreat to close another day.

Emily can't be around sand without having herself completely buried (with the exception of her head, of course). She dug herself a hole and we covered her with the sand. I didn't get a good photo.

I think I heard Chariots of Fire in the background as these two raced on the sand!

A crazy game of sand volleyball broke out between these two. Sand was flying! :)

Check out this line-up of aqua fun at Mt. Olympus: 44 waterslides, 3 lazy rivers, 2 huge wave pools, the Lost City of Atlantis (a 6-story tall water playland with a monster dump bucket), 7 waterslides and geyser blasting water over 160 feet into the sky and 3 kids water play areas. It was impossible to stay dry here!
